First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Convention Data Services.
Project Manager
I had one phone call and then didn't hear back, which wasn't professional. I would try a different place. A return email would have been nice. It was a waste of time and they need a better system.
- Tell me about your last job.

It was pretty easy and straightforward. I didn't need to know everything they asked. The interviewers were nice and answered my questions. Then there was a take home project that wasn't too hard either.
- Could you comprehend the example code written in classic ASP?
Sales Manager
So the interview process started with three phone interviews. After that, they flew me out to their main office. What was really weird, though, is that they make you pay for everything on your credit card, and they don't even cover food costs, even if you have to stay overnight. And get this, it takes like a whole month to get reimbursed, which is totally ridiculous.
- Can you describe your experience in typical interviews with various staff members?
- How do you see yourself adapting to a small company with its own unique methods?
- What are your strategies for succeeding in a remote work environment within such a company?
Web Developer
First, I went through an interview with a recruiting agency. After that, I met with the internal development team and some of the management. The whole thing took a while but it was thorough and really showed me what the day-to-day tasks would be like. After the interviews, the hiring process moved pretty fast. They weren't very flexible on salary, which makes sense given the company's size and where it's located.
- Recently, we've started asking more technical quiz-style questions.
