First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Continuant.
Sales Director
First, you'll chat with the department head, then you'll interview with the founder and CEO. He'll go through your resume with a fine-tooth comb and ask every question imaginable. If you highlight too many accomplishments, he might accuse you of having a 'pride issue' or 'self-promoting.' If he wants to hire you, expect a lowball offer and a lecture on why you're not worth more. This company categorizes everyone in leadership as either a 'hero' or a 'zero.' However, they have some amazing leaders and great people working below the top brass. When you get to the offer stage, get all the specifics in writing, including details from your conversations, on your offer letter. Don't rely on memory or assumptions. While they might not sign documents, do your best to get everything documented. Also, try not to earn so much commission on a single check that they decide you're more valuable to them gone than present after a big sale. They have a saying, 'don't be worth more dead than alive.' Despite employment laws, if they let you go before you get paid, they keep the commission.
- Given your past financial success and achievements, what motivates you to seek employment now?
NOC Engineer
I had a phone interview with a panel of 3 Engineers who asked me technical questions. I talked about my background and experience. I'm a Nortel-Avaya Certified Engineer with over 20 years of technical support experience with Nortel Networks, Avaya, and Avaya Government Enterprise. My skills include installation and Operations and Maintenance on Nortel Meridian 1, Nortel Option 11C - Option81C PBX. I have experience providing technical support for major healthcare hospital environments for the Department of Veterans Administration for both Long Beach and San Diego facilities, covering Call Servers up to Release 7.5, Unified Communications Manager, VoIP, SIP, Signaling Servers and Media Gateway Controllers, Network Routing Servers, Voice mail and Call Pilot Servers on a global customer support level. I can analyze system failures and fix system operations. I can also provision, configure, Automatic Call Distribution centers, Controlled Directory Numbers, TDM, Uni-stem and SIP IP phones, Call pilot, and voice mail boxes as requested by customers. I support integration of Call Server to Contact Centers, CCMS, Symposium, and IVR. I have experience with Linux Base Operating Systems for Call Servers, Call Processor Pentium Mobile, and Common of the Shelf Servers, as well as Avaya Ethernet Routing and Edge Switches.
- Can you explain how to confirm that the Media Gateway is registered with the Call Servers, and also verify the health status of the Call Pilot voicemail system and the PBX connection?
- What steps do you take to register Signaling Server sets for VoIP?
- Which overlay do you consult to check the T1 status?
Customer Service Representative
I applied through a friend, and the first interview was a quick 5-10 minute phone call. Then, I had an in-person interview. The office was really nice and spacious, and the first interviewer was professional but seemed a bit young. The questions were basic. I thought I might get an offer right away, but I had a second interview with the manager. She was less friendly, and each interview lasted about 30 minutes. After the second interview, I wasn't sure if I'd get the job because the vibe was different. I got the offer the next day. I got the impression they focus a lot on appearance and personality, maybe more than hard work.
- She kept asking that I was okay with making less money, but in a short, skeptical tone.
Project Manager
I interviewed for a Project Manager role and went through 3 interviews plus an initial HR chat. Even though I didn't get an offer because they were looking for someone with more experience, the company culture really stood out. The HR manager was incredibly supportive and made me feel good about my potential, even with the rejection. The feedback and encouragement I got were impressive, and I'm planning to reapply next year. The managers also seemed great.
- Can you describe a situation where you encountered a problem and what steps you took to fix it?
- Tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult situation and how you handled it.
