First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Continental Properties.
Manager
It was a lengthy process. First, I had a recruiter call. If it was a match, I met with the supervisor. Then, I completed a test to assess my skills. After that, they asked for multiple references and performed a background check. The whole process took about a month to hire me, but it was worth it because it's a great place to work with a positive atmosphere. The salary was a bit lower than expected.
- Can you explain your reasons for leaving your previous employment?
Human Resources
I applied online and on the same day got an email for a web interview. I wasn't thrilled about not talking to a person but I did it. They asked basic HR questions and about my qualifications. Later that day, I got an email for an in-person interview, which was two days later. I was interviewed by three HR people. The first one took me to her office, and then walked me to a conference room to be interviewed by the other two at the same time. They stuck to their script and kept asking about one project from my last job, even though I have more experience. They never explained the position or anything about the company, which I thought was strange given my past interviews.
- Can you elaborate on the specific project you worked on?

Human Resources Generalist
The interview process was pretty standard with a phone interview and then an on-site interview. Because of my schedule, I actually did two interviews virtually using my phone and FaceTime. The company was flexible with my schedule and let me interview as soon as possible, but at a time that worked with my current job. I liked that I got to come into the office to see it and meet my future coworkers in person. It helped me figure out if I would be a good fit for the team and the company overall.
- What makes you the best candidate for this position?
Property Manager
I applied online and got an email with instructions for the next step. The 'interview' involved an automated system that posed 5 questions and recorded my answers. It felt incredibly impersonal, totally removing the human element and letting a machine pick candidates. It seems like a really bad way to choose future employees. I wasn't offered a position despite being more than qualified. Honestly, I'm not sure I would have accepted it anyway after such a weird interview process.
