The interview was fair. You get a piece of paper when you come in with basic IT questions for about 10-15 minutes. You get pulled in and asked questions. There are usually two people in the room, one will be a manager and the other could be a supervisor. The whole team is friendly and not intimidating.

I applied online via Indeed and heard back about 4 weeks later. The hiring manager mentioned having 30 applicants for the role. The interview lasted an hour, and I was told there were two openings. I felt I had the necessary experience. The hiring manager gave me his contact details, so I reached out a few weeks later for an update but never received a response. I suspect they opted for a cheaper solution or used a hiring service. The data center itself was nice, but the leadership and direction seemed lacking.

I was contacted by a contracting company who asked to present me to Contegix. After they reviewed my resume, I was scheduled for a phone interview. The day of the interview, I was unexpectedly called by the hiring manager an hour earlier than planned. I was outside and unprepared but tried my best. The call was interrupted multiple times by sirens and a person asking for money. I was on the phone for about an hour, which caused me to miss the call from the contract rep. I had to explain the situation, but thankfully made a good impression to move forward. For the next interview, I found a quiet conference room. After waiting past the scheduled time with no call, I emailed the contracting rep expressing concern about their interest. He called back to reassure me and explained that the lead interviewer had forgotten to call. I had the option to interview Monday or later that day, and chose later that day. The call was at the correct time, but it was very unprofessional. I tried to build rapport, but the lead was agitated and went on a rant with expletives about his own crises. The questions were irrelevant, focusing on server hardware and acronyms like RAID. I could hear him typing and talking to others during my answers. I answered honestly, even when I didn't know something. At the end, he mentioned they had already filled the Linux positions and asked if I'd be interested in a more entry-level role, which explained his earlier questioning. I'm sharing this because while the IT contracting business can be tough, disrespect is unacceptable, and there should be accountability.

The interview process has two phases. First round is with the senior and managing directors of the professional services team. Second round is with the managing director and some of his team members. They asked mostly scenario-based questions about the job requirements.
