Software Engineer
The recruiter reached out about an opening and the hiring manager sent a coding test that was kind of vague. The recruiter mentioned the manager gave good feedback, but turns out that was a lie because they ghosted me after I submitted the assessment and ignored all my follow-ups. They didn't even check the API route I built. It's really rude to waste people's time like that, and judging by other reviews, I'm not the only one who's experienced this. I wouldn't want to work for a company that acts like this.
- Could you build a basic API route that connects to a given database?
Software Engineer
The first part of the process was a take-home assignment that had a really vague and unclear prompt. It wasn't anything super complex, honestly, something a junior developer could handle. But it felt like the hiring manager was really looking for something super specific. They should really make their intent clear in the prompt and the dataset. It's a waste of people's time if they're just looking for someone to quickly write scripts and SQL.
- Could you write an API to handle some basic data?
Software Engineer
We had an initial 30 minute chat where I was asked about projects I've built and some basic behavioral questions. There were no technical interview questions. They mentioned they would review my GitHub projects to decide on the next steps.
- Can you tell me about a project you built?
