First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ConnectOne Bank.

The first round was a basic behavioral screening with a very friendly interviewer who asked a situational question. It lasted about 15 minutes, and then she shared her notes with the hiring manager. It was all very straightforward.
- Can you tell me about your resume?
Analyst
The interview process felt pretty standard. Both interviewers were great, providing a detailed overview of the role and how it connects with other positions. They explained everything clearly, and it seemed like they were genuinely interested in getting to know the real you, not just what's on paper.
- Can you tell me about your background and experience?
- How do you feel about your ability to collaborate effectively within a team?

So I wanted to share my interview experience. The process and people seemed really appealing, but the first interviewer was 35 minutes late. My second interview got rescheduled twice, even though I was being really flexible. Neither interviewer acknowledged my patience. They both seemed a bit arrogant but also sincere. Both interviews went well though. I had another job offer before the second interview but wanted to see if I liked ConnectOne's culture. The recruiter knew this and didn't seem to be in a rush. Two days after my second interview, they emailed me (after almost four weeks, a call would have been better) saying they weren't picking me because I'm pursuing my Master's Degree, which I didn't even have to mention. I was just being honest. My studies wouldn't have conflicted with work. But they didn't bother to ask about my schedule before rejecting me. A company that doesn't even ask about your schedule and support your education isn't for me.
- What is your motivation for wanting to work at ConnectOne?

I applied online and the recruiter called me the same day. The next day, we had a quick phone chat. After that, they set up an in-person interview with three people: the recruiter, the department head, and the culture person. It was laid-back and felt pretty easygoing. I didn't hear back for a couple of weeks even after following up, but they said they were still deciding. Then they asked for writing samples, which made me feel more optimistic. About a week later, they called and offered me the job.
- What's prompting your job search from your current role?
- Can you share an instance of a challenge you successfully navigated?
