Sales Development Representative
Had a call with a recruiter for the whole company, then another recruiter who was specific to the sales team. After that, I spoke with a sales leader and two managers. It seemed like a high-pressure environment. The whole process took about a month and felt a bit chaotic. They gave me a lot of product information to prepare, but it wasn't really brought up in the interviews. The managers handle teams that are spread across different time zones, not necessarily based on where they physically are, and it wasn't clear from the start who my manager would be. It seems like managing SDRs is just a common step for some managers in their sales careers. The whole SDR management setup appears to be a bit of a madhouse.

Sales Development Representative
More than one recruiter from Confluent reached out to me over LinkedIn for an SDR role. The first recruiter scheduled a screening call but never followed up. The second recruiter cancelled a scheduled call last minute, rescheduled, and then asked about my past clients and compensation package, which I declined to share. After this call, I was told they'd check with the hiring manager about administrative issues, and then I heard nothing back, even after following up. The process also involves rounds with the hiring manager, team members, and a sales exec. It was a disappointing experience, making me feel like they were just gauging the market.
- Can you describe your responsibilities in your current position?
- What metrics do you focus on in your current role?
- What's your understanding of Confluent?
Sales Development Representative
The interview process was pretty thorough and demanded a lot, but it moved fast and ended well. It included a first phone screen, a few other interviews, a presentation, and then a mock phone call. The company really seems to care about their hires, which is great. The recruiter was awesome, giving fast and detailed feedback and helping out the whole way. Definitely the best interview experience I've had.
- What do you think will make you successful in this role?
- What's your motivation for pursuing a career in sales?
- Could you explain what our company does?
