A recruitment consultant put me forward for this role, but then I never heard back from them. Skanska internal HR then set up an interview with the Senior Editor and the Department Manager. The Senior Editor was a real character and didn’t seem to get my experience, asking some really strange questions. The Department Manager was nice, though. The interview was mainly competency-based questions and some about the process. They then kind of tried to put me off the job, saying things like, ‘you’d just be sat writing only the senior editor handles overall storyboarding’. After this weird interview, I was sent a Word document and had an hour to complete it. It involved correcting sentences for punctuation and unnecessary words, and then a creative writing task.

The process started with submitting my CV through the website and answering some standard personal info questions. After the deadline, the recruitment team contacted me to move forward with psychometric assessments, which included numerical, verbal, and logical tests. Once I finished those, I was invited for a telephone interview where we talked about motivation and competency-based questions related to the company. The last part was the assessment centre, and only 3 of us showed up that day. The day involved an individual presentation, which I got the topic for a week before, an individual interview, and a group exercise where we had to deal with different ethical scenarios.

So the interview process has online tests, a video interview, and then an assessment centre. The online tests aren't too tough, just need a bit of practice. For the video interview, they'll ask you about the company, maybe what projects you like, why you're applying, and some competency-based questions. At the assessment centre, there were 4 other people with me. It had an individual interview, a presentation about the company which you can prep beforehand, and a group exercise where we had to discuss ethical issues.
