First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Concordia University (Oregon).
Mental Health Counselor
I sent in my application online and was quickly called for an initial interview. They told me I'd be contacted for an in-person interview. It took over five weeks to hear back, even after I sent follow-up emails. The in-person interview was with a panel, which seemed like standard procedure. Weeks went by again without any news, despite my follow-ups. Eventually, I received a generic email from HR saying I didn't get the job.
- Do you have favorite authors?
- Could you tell me about your church affiliation?
- What are your thoughts on the diversity of our student body?
Instructor
I was asked about my prior online teaching experience and my experience teaching face-to-face. They asked me about my philosophy of teaching and what skills I would bring to their university. Since it is a Christian university, I was asked if I am a Christian. I believe they want good instructors with good morals.
- Can you provide an instance where you'd ask a student something to help them learn more deeply?
Human Resources
I had a phone interview with the recruiter where we talked about my experience and the perks of the job. After that, I went through a panel interview with three people. Then there was another panel interview with four people, and I also had to do a presentation.
- What's your strategy for informing employees about the new laws concerning exempt and non-exempt status, and explaining the implications of these changes?
Associate Director
I had a group interview with the staff of the department I was interviewing for, along with many other group interviews with other departments' staff. It took several days to complete all of the interviews.
- Describe how you resolved a specific situation.
- What actions would you take differently to prevent that situation from recurring?
