First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Concordia University Irvine.
Student Worker
It was an in-person interview, a single round where I met the department supervisors. It felt professional and was good practice for future full-time job interviews.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Program Assistant
They were really quick to get back to me! The interview was super friendly and professional. First, I chatted with my direct supervisors, and then I spoke with the head of HR. It was all pretty straightforward and they kept me in the loop with quick follow-ups.
- What qualities do you possess that make you a suitable candidate for this role?
- Can you tell me about your church affiliation?
Program Manager
I submitted my resume and then had a meeting with the Department Head. It was a pretty typical interview with general questions, and then some other people from the Department gave their feedback and we talked more about the job. A week later, I heard back about a second interview with the HR Director. After that, I had to do a background check, and I got the job once that went through.
- Can you walk me through your resume?
- How do you see faith fitting into your personal and professional life?
Academic Advisor
The entire hiring process took about five months, mainly because the department needed to get the budget approved for the role. I initially applied in November, and it wasn't until April of the next year that I got an email and then an interview. After that, I received an outline for the interview, which was a panel with the director, some faculty, the lead academic advisor, and other department staff. It was mostly behavioral and general questions, and the panel made me feel comfortable enough to answer honestly. They showed me around the department after the interview, which felt like a good sign. The next day, I got an email asking me to meet with the University President. Following that meeting, the HR director offered me the position a few days later.
- Can you tell me about a time you dealt with a problem that involved people with differing values, ideas, or beliefs in your past work experience?
