First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Concordia University Chicago.
Executive Assistant
I had to set aside two hours for an in-person interview. While the process was organized, they failed to follow up by the end of the week as promised, leaving me waiting for two weeks. This demonstrated a lack of professionalism and respect for my time. Their old-fashioned approach is unlikely to change.
- Can you discuss your previous work experience?
- How do you manage when faced with several competing priorities?
Public Safety Officer
I sent in a paper application at the start of fall semester. It took them until around Thanksgiving to respond and set up an interview, but I needed work so I took it. I spoke with all four supervisors together. They asked me simple things like why I wanted the job, if I could work nights and weekends, and about my class schedule and grades since it's a student job. The interview lasted about 30 minutes. I got an offer the next day and accepted. I'm still working there and have been promoted a few times.
- What would someone outside of your immediate circle or the university say about your character?
Articulation and Credit Evaluation Specialist
The interview process had its ups and downs. Some staff were nice and asked questions relevant to the Articulation and Credit Evaluation Specialist job. However, the Assistant VP asked a question like "are you a quick learner" which was a bit rude. It's disappointing that my alma mater doesn't seem to value my connection when considering me for a position.
- Can you learn quickly?
Assistant Coach
The head coach called and asked a few questions, but didn't ask much about me or my background. I was then invited to campus to meet him in person. He still didn't ask me much about myself while I was on campus. He basically offered me the job on the spot. I really didn't have to interview for this job because very few questions were asked before they hired me.
