This involved a big take-home assignment where candidates had to propose a product for the company itself. It felt like doing unpaid product exploration, which is pretty questionable. It's a minimum of 12 hours of work, which is way too much and more than needed to evaluate a candidate's process and work. I was actually proven right when I reused parts of my own interview assignment for designs after I was hired. It's a really integrity-lacking and bad way to start a new role.

The interview had three parts. First, we talked about my background with a recruiter and how I fit with the company. In the second part, we went deeper into my skills and how I handle different situations. There's a final part with a practical task related to the job. It's a hands-on test to show what you can do. There were a lot of questions on past experiences that were similar to what they were looking for. It was a good way to talk about my skills and show what I can bring to the team.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

It was a quick and easy process. I was kept in the loop with plenty of helpful info about what was next and what to expect. I first chatted with the recruiter who gave me a lot of good info and answered my questions. Then, I got an exercise, which I usually don't like, but this one was cool and fun because it showed me their platform, had clear directions, and didn't take all day. After that, I went onsite for a chat that was laid-back but also focused and informative. Everyone was super nice and seemed genuinely interested in my work, my passions, and what drives me.

My interview process was super quick since it turned out I wasn't the best fit for the director position they were looking to fill. I really appreciate the Recruiting Director's transparency. She took the time to listen to my background, my projects, what I'm looking for, what I don't like, and my concerns. She asked questions to figure out what I wanted in my next job. Usually, recruiters just push you into a role, but she actually heard me out. After really listening, she pointed out that this role likely wouldn't be the right next step for me because of a few specific reasons, and she was spot on. I'm glad I didn't waste anyone's time, and I'm thankful she understood my needs instead of trying to force me into a position that wouldn't utilize my skills effectively.
