Applied for the concierge job on Craigslist, and got a call for a first phone interview about 3 days later. The second phone interview happened a week after that. After those, I came in for my first in-person interview, where I did a bunch of tests: typing, an area test, spelling, and capitalization. Then I had a sit-down interview. I was scheduled for my second interview that same night for the very next day. After my second interview, which was with a senior concierge, I got a call for my third interview, which was scheduled for the day after that. When I came in for that third interview, I got a job offer! The training is super short, so you really need to read all the info they give you, because that's basically your training.

The recruiters are swamped, so the process is a bit chaotic. You'll spend 3-5 hours on grammar, communication, Microsoft Word, and Office skills. Then, you'll visit 3-4 places in the Loop to chat with current staff. It feels random; you might still get an offer even if you don't hit a specific requirement, and the opposite can happen too.

So I had this interview that went on for about an hour and a half. They made me do 4 tests first, like a typing test, one about Chicago, spelling, and grammar. Then I met the interviewer, who asked me two questions. After that, he sent me to meet some employees. One employee just talked to me for like 5 minutes and then let me go. Two days later, I got a call for a second interview. I met the same person again, and he said I was overqualified but wanted to find me something else. I was supposed to meet the CEO, but had to wait 3 hours and come back the next morning. The CEO meeting was quick, about 10 minutes. She said there wasn't a position for me and the only thing possible was the customer service job, and she didn't know why I was interviewed for concierge or admin roles since those weren't options. Then she left.

It was a 3 hour interview which felt long, but they did mention it would take some time. I did 2 handwritten tests and about 3 computer tests. They were okay. The interview itself was alright, but the interviewer was very rude. The owner would pop in and out, or assign tasks to the interviewer, and the interviewer would snap at them. The interviewer also made some personal jabs at me, commenting on my appearance as a creative. When I asked questions about their personal happiness at the job, they responded mockingly, saying something like, 'I didn't expect something so poignant to come from *you*'. The office atmosphere felt tense and off-putting. I was invited back for a second interview, but I decided not to proceed.
