First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Comtech Telecommunications.
Software Engineer Intern
The interviewer was friendly. They asked questions about my past projects and my technical knowledge. It felt more like a checklist interview, not a deep dive. The first interview was 15 minutes, and the second is 30 minutes.
- Can you describe some of your previous projects?
- Do you have a good understanding of our company?
- What is your availability to start?
Network Analyst
So the interview process was pretty solid. It started with a call from the corporate recruiter, then I spoke with the director of network services, and finally, there was a three-person panel interview with the operations team. It was a long and detailed interview, so you gotta be ready to show off your past projects and how you've worked with different platforms for network and security monitoring.
- Can you share an instance where you identified a significant vulnerability and describe the actions you took to address it?
Mechanical Engineer Intern
I applied online and they got back to me in a few weeks to set up an in-person interview. I met with two people from the mechanical engineering team. They asked me a lot of questions about fluid mechanics, heat transfer, vibrations, and electrical circuits. I didn't get all the answers right and I never heard back from them. I wouldn't recommend this company because they were really condescending. If you didn't use their exact terms, they looked down on you. They shut me down before I could even answer two of the questions. I was shocked when they asked me who wrote my heat transfer book. The interview was super awkward and tense. I left feeling like I wouldn't have had a good learning experience there even if they had hired me.
- Could you solve a fluids problem that involves Bernoulli's equation, head loss in a pipe, Reynolds number, the Moody diagram, and calculating the size of a pump under specific conditions?
- What are the different types of heat transfer and how do they apply to a computer?
- Is heat transfer better in laminar or turbulent flow?
Qis Administrator
I waited for the hiring manager to call. He was on time. The meeting was held in a quiet office with no interruptions. We discussed the usual things, but also how image, integrity, and family are important, and how to keep a healthy work/family balance. I felt the interview process gave the hiring manager the chance to assess my abilities and also gave me the chance to assess my future boss, his expectations, and his willingness to teach when needed. He was the best boss in my entire working history.
- Can you tell me about your strongest skill set?
