Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at COMSOL.
Software Engineer
First they asked me some basic questions about my field. Then I had to give a short presentation about my research. They also asked some questions about my hobby. Finally, they gave me a short code exam to check its performance.
- What are the basics of your field?
- How would you solve Maxwell equations?
- Tell me about your hobbies.
Software Developer
I had a casual half-hour chat with a team manager. After that, there was a 2-hour technical interview where four interviewers asked me several questions. This happened after I gave a presentation on my research and course projects related to the role.
- Were the questions difficult? Were they relevant to my research and the job?
Software Developer
My first interview was non-technical and lasted 30 minutes. Then there was a second round which was technical. The interviewers were super nice and professional, but I didn't prepare enough for it. The questions they asked were good and not too difficult; they covered programming and physical meaning concepts, and were very professional.
- Could you tell me a bit about yourself?
