Learning and Quality Operations Manager
I had an initial phone interview that seemed to go well. I spoke with Christine quickly after being contacted. They asked about my experience and "corporate training" philosophy. I asked for clarification on the term "corporate training." I also asked follow-up questions about the position. They explained the difference between this role and a similarly titled job, noting they are in different company groups and that this is a new position in their part of the organization. I never heard back after that. I sent a follow-up email but didn't get a reply. I'm rating this experience negatively because a response is standard practice.
- What is your philosophy on corporate training?

The interview started with the hiring manager and HR. I was asked questions from a list, mixing skills and personal ones. It felt a bit impersonal, but I was invited back quickly for a second interview. This was a panel with the initial interviewers and about 5-6 colleagues. They again asked questions from a list, going around the table. I had to really explain my background and why I fit. The job description from my recruiter was different from the actual role, which was much more technical. They specifically asked about a 'nice to have' skill, which I elaborated on. I had shared my desired salary with my recruiter, which was at the high end, but they knew this going in. As part of the offer process, they do the background check first. I accepted a contingent offer for this. However, before starting the background check, they told my recruiter they wanted to pay 15% less than I asked for, even less than my current salary. I countered at my current salary, but they wouldn't budge. I declined the offer. I felt treated poorly by Compsource. My recruiting team mentioned this has happened before with them. My advice is to be very cautious during interviews and really push to make sure they understand you. The questions alone won't do it. Be prepared for a lower offer than you initially ask for, citing market comparison or missing skills like an MBA, even if not crucial. They might mention benefits to compensate. Remember, the full offer letter comes only after the background check.
- Can you share an instance where you experienced failure in a work-related situation?
Business Analyst
I applied on the company website and a few days later, I heard back from HR. We set up an interview. It was held in OKC with HR, the department manager, and the department director. I got an offer about a week later. The questions were a bit tough and very focused on Agile methodology, not waterfall. They were really technical and in-depth.
- Do you know what JAD stands for?
- What does the acronym INVEST mean in the context of business analysis?
- Do you have experience with scrums?
Underwriter
It was a typical interview, pretty mundane really, with a panel of three people. They asked the same old questions that didn't really tell me much about how I'd fit the job. What they said during the interview didn't end up being true. I specifically asked about the office culture, and they assured me it was drama-free and that bad behavior and favoritism weren't allowed. Turns out, that wasn't the case, but maybe others see it differently. I noticed a lot of unhappy employees looking for other jobs!
- What's your greatest strength and weakness?
- Can you share an instance of handling a challenging customer?
- Describe a time you exceeded expectations to help a customer.
