Just wanted to let you know that this is a contract based role. They asked me to finish an ongoing project which took about a week. Of course, it was without any pay. They requested that I present the most important part of the task. I told them that this was not possible because of the nature of the project and my role as a candidate. They responded by saying that they wanted to see my abilities in a specific area. This made me feel very disrespected and that their request was unreasonable. Because the role I interviewed for was a short contract position, I suspect they might be trying to get people to do unpaid work under the guise of a creative assessment. Also, the amount of work was a bit much for just an assessment (they needed a presentation, not just a few images).

I had 3 interviews and then was given an assignment to complete. It took me over 2 hours to finish the assignment, and I never got confirmation that they received it. After that, the recruiter and the team at Complex ghosted me, even after I followed up multiple times. It was a terrible experience.

So, the whole interview thing had four parts. It started with a phone chat with HR. They looked at my background and the job details, and then I moved on to the next stage. Round two was a 30-minute Zoom call with two senior managers. After that, I talked to the Director of the team. The final round was a Zoom meeting with the department's SVP and a Senior Director. Everything wrapped up pretty fast, in about a month. Even though I didn't get an offer in the end, the process itself was pretty good. HR was really clear and got back to me quickly.

The interview process felt messy and unorganized. Initially, I was contacted about an interview with a mention of flexible salary. However, after completing two rounds, they brought up salary discussions and stated they couldn't negotiate, forcing a decision on whether to proceed. The offer was below industry standards, and I ended up accepting a similar role elsewhere for $20k more. Interestingly, after I declined their initial offer, they suggested interviewing for another position within the company that could meet my salary expectations. When I expressed interest, I heard nothing back despite two follow-ups, which was quite disappointing. The entire experience with the recruiter was random, seemed dodgy, and was longer than necessary. It would have been better if they were upfront from the start.
