Licensed Practical Nurse
The interview was done virtually. It seemed to be going fine until the topic of salary came up. They weren't willing to offer what I was looking for and there was no room for negotiation. I was told I would receive a flat rate that was five dollars an hour less than my current pay.
- What is your motivation for wanting to work as a referral coordinator?
Hospice Admissions Nurse
This was a group interview with the director of clinical services, a social worker, and a transitional liaison. It was the best interview I’ve had, honestly. I felt comfortable and my questions were answered, some before I even asked. Everyone was really nice, engaged with what I said, and transparent. Their excitement about their roles and about me made me more excited to join the team. I felt I could be myself and show my strengths because it was so comfortable. It wasn't easy, but being prepared and experienced helped. It was a wonderful interview!
- Can you describe how you would manage a start of care and explain its significance?
Registered Nurse
Had a phone call first, it was super chill and friendly. I have a five-year gap in my job history, so obviously I had to explain that it was for family stuff and because my mom passed away. I kept it brief, then steered the conversation elsewhere. Next up was a Zoom interview with a manager who was in another state. It was pretty laid back and she asked me why I wanted to switch specialties. I told her the real reason... that my Mom had been receiving hospice care and it made me interested in offering patient and family-focused care. I'd be honored to help patients and their families feel comfortable and cared for during such a critical time.
- What's prompting your desire to switch specialties at this stage of your nursing career?
- How would you handle a situation where a family or patient expresses dissatisfaction with their care or treatment?
RVP
The interview process was thorough and intentional. I met with multiple members of the senior leadership team over the course of a few months. During that time, I had the opportunity to ask extensive questions and really get a feel for the organization's business, people, and culture. I met with each senior leader in a one-on-one face-to-face environment and felt very welcomed at each meeting.
- Can you tell me about your experience managing multi-million dollar P&Ls in detail?
- What is your leadership style, and can you give some examples?
- Can you share some examples of situations where you had to adapt your leadership style based on the circumstances?
