First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Compass.
Office Administrator
Everyone I met with was so friendly and helpful. Each person I spoke with really made me want to be part of the Compass team. The only downfall is how long the entire interview process is. It started with a 30 minute screening phone call. The next week, I had a Skype interview. The following week, I had another Skype interview. That same week, I had a Skype call to discuss setting up a time for an in person interview. The final interview was scheduled for two weeks later. I met with 5 people and it was a 2.5 hour process. Though the process was long, it made me familiar with the company and truly made me want to be part of the team.
- How do you maintain organization?
Office Administrator
I applied on Compass' website and they reached out to set up an initial phone screen. I chatted with a recruiter for about 15 minutes, and she thought I'd be a good fit. She said she'd connect me with the hiring team to set up a Zoom interview. I then interviewed with three managers for different west coast locations, even though the location I applied for wasn't open yet. They told me it was a tough decision between me and another candidate, but they chose the other person. They did offer me a faster interview for a different role at the same office that they felt I was better suited for, but I declined because I had already accepted another job.
- What makes you want to join Compass?
Office Administrator
The interview process was very long and unproductive. The job had been posted for over 30 days, and they were still interviewing. The initial phone interview was quick and to the point, with Kelli. Then, there were two video interviews scheduled, first with one person, then another. Finally, there were three video interviews back-to-back in one week, totaling six interviews. All the interviews asked the same questions. While I understand the need to find the right candidate, it seemed excessive given my admin and real estate experience, positive attitude, and potential. It's been two weeks since the last interview, and I haven't heard back about not being selected. I'm sure the extensive and repetitive interview process is not useful.
- Tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult client.
