First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Compass Health Center.
Manager
I had an interview on a Thursday, and it seemed pretty standard. The interviewer was about 20 minutes late, which I get. I felt like the conversation was going well though, so well in fact that they offered to set me up with the hiring manager. I was really excited, and they said they would email me details and connect me the next week. Then, on Sunday afternoon, I received a rejection email. On a Sunday. It felt pretty rude and unprofessional to get such bad news on a day most people are trying to relax. I reached out for more info, hoping for some feedback, but then I was ghosted. It was super frustrating to not get any communication or respect for my time.
- Can you describe your professional experience and how it aligns with the requirements of this position?
Therapist
I did a phone screen and then went in for an in-person interview with the team. I met with 4 people for about 30-45 minutes each. The recruiter told me it went well, and they sent me benefits and salary info and asked for references. Because some of the original interviewers were out, I had another interview over Zoom with 3 more people. The recruiter said I'd hear back by the end of the week but I never did. I emailed and called over the next two weeks with no reply. On the third week, I emailed again saying I had other offers and needed to know where I stood. I ended up reaching out to a team member, which finally got the recruiter to tell me they hired someone else.
- How would your former colleagues describe you?
Virtual Group Therapist
I interviewed with Compass Health Center via Zoom. A Talent Recruiter reached out to me and we scheduled a 20-30 minute phone call where they described the role and their requirements. About a week later, the recruiter contacted me again to set up a 1.5-hour Zoom interview with three team members. They asked a lot of repetitive questions. It seemed to go well, and they said I'd hear back by the end of the week. A week after that, the recruiter called to say they liked my background but were putting the position on hold because they were unsure about the remote aspect and client availability for the group. The whole process felt like a waste of time given the uncertainty about the position, and it felt disorganized since they were interviewing candidates despite not knowing the status of the role. They have since posted a similar remote position again.
- What draws you to this particular role?
- Which client groups do you prefer to work with?
- Could you elaborate on your experience and qualifications?
Family Therapist
I had two phone chats with HR to figure out the best role for me. After that, I had a 90-minute in-person meeting with three different people, spending 30 minutes with each. They seemed ready to offer me the job then, but I requested another meeting with my potential supervisor. So, I met with the clinical supervisor and program manager, 30 minutes each. It was a bit repetitive, as I was asked the same 2-3 questions by different people, which made it feel inefficient. I'd seen some company culture reviews online and noticed questions about handling coworker conflicts and managing burnout/caseloads, which felt like potential red flags since I didn't get clear answers about the specific site's culture. When I asked my potential supervisor about their therapy supervision approach, they seemed unsure about 'self/person of the therapist' work and focused more on skill-building. Supervision is crucial for my growth as a therapist, and I was worried about not developing beyond just learning new information.
- Should a therapist invest more effort than their client, and what's your reasoning?
- How do you deal with disagreements with colleagues?
- What are your strategies for managing burnout and heavy client loads?
