The hiring process spanned roughly four weeks from application submission. It began with a Phone Interview with the COO and Chief Program Officer, which was a pleasant chat focusing on my resume and work values. Next was a Video Interview, conducted due to the pandemic, with the Director of Rural Programs, AmeriCorps Program Coordinator, and the COO. This session provided deeper insights into the program and the role's integration into the team, with a particular connection formed with the Director of Rural Programs regarding compliance and employee relations. The third stage was another Video Interview with the CEO, Associate Director of AmeriCorps Programs, and the COO, where the CEO and Associate Director led the discussion on my HR knowledge and its application to supporting employees. This was followed by a Reference Check, where I supplied at least three references to attest to my work ethic, personality, and leadership. Finally, an Offer was extended via phone call and letter within a week of the last interview. While I appreciated the organization's mission and inclusive culture, I declined the offer due to the temporary nature of the grant-funded role and the proposed salary. The COO's consistent presence, given the direct reporting structure, was noted and appreciated.

I was asked to make a 7-hour drive to their Denver office for the interview with less than a week's notice. I was willing to do it because I was really interested in the job. CRC never let me know I didn't get the position even after I sent multiple follow-up emails and they told me how grateful they were that I made the long drive. I eventually heard from my friend who worked there that the position went to someone else. It was unprofessional and left a bad impression.
