The interview process felt pretty easy, mostly because I already knew my future boss from a previous job. It was more of a chat than a formal interview. We talked about my ideas for the newspaper, which had recently been acquired. I shared my assessment of its current state and my vision for its future potential.

I saw the ad and sent my resume for a general sales position. It turned out to be for the newspaper. I was called in after hours to interview with the Ad director and the retail manager. They asked basic questions. The retail manager liked to talk, so I focused on making him feel good. The ad manager was tougher and highlighted the negative aspects of the job, but I could tell when she was exaggerating. I was then called back to meet with the publisher, who is like a GM. He asked a lot of questions to test my objection handling skills. I learned that repeating his points back in my own words worked well with him. Soon after, I received the offer.

Had two interviews, one over the phone and one in person. They asked all the questions but didn't answer any of mine, and were pretty evasive. I never heard back after the interview... not even an email saying no.
