First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City.
Donor Care Technician
It went smooth. I did a virtual interview, then went into having an in-person interview the same week. I got offered the job 2 or 3 days later. Then started training a month later.
- Can you share an instance where you faced a challenging situation at work?
Biomedical Technician
I had a phone interview with HR, then a zoom meeting with HR, followed by a zoom meeting with the department manager. They used a template to ask questions because the manager overseeing the department doesn't have deep knowledge of the work they manage. They were good about scheduling the next step and kept me informed.
- What is your relevant experience?
- Do you possess the necessary work ethic?
- Will you be a good fit for our team culture?
Technologist
The hiring process started with HR screening my application. Then I had a phone chat with the HR recruiter. After that, they invited me for an in-person interview, which included more in-depth questions from the recruiter, and a tour of the lab. After the tour, I met with the lab's manager and technical supervisor. The final part of the in-person interview was with the director overseeing the lab.
- What are the four causes of a positive DAT?
- Can you describe a situation where you had a conflict with a coworker and explain how you resolved it?
Marketing Coordinator
I went through 3 interviews. First, a phone call, then an in-person interview with HR, and finally, another in-person interview with the department leads. It was a really positive experience initially; everyone was super friendly and I was excited about the prospect of working there. After my last interview on Thursday, they mentioned they'd be interviewing others the following week and would provide an update by the end of that week or early the next. When I didn't hear back, I reached out to HR. She explained they were still in the midst of interviewing and it might take another week for a decision. I let her know I had another job offer but was still very keen on this role, urging them to keep me informed. However, over two weeks after that conversation with HR, and almost four weeks post-interview, they called to schedule yet another interview. By then, it was too late as I had already started my new job, so I had to decline and withdraw my application. Despite them expressing a strong desire to hire quickly during the interview, their process seemed to indicate otherwise.
- Can you describe a situation where you had a conflict with a colleague? How did you handle it and what was the outcome?
- What is your approach to managing workplace interruptions?
