Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Commonfund.
Intern
I spoke with two junior team members and then interviewed with the MDs. They were really flexible with my schedule and it felt pretty conversational overall. We just talked on the phone, no Zoom or Teams.
- Would you be alright with living and working in the suburbs instead of NYC?
Intern
I applied online and heard back within a week. The interview process consisted of three separate 30-minute interviews with a Director, another Director, and a Managing Director from the team I was interested in. I thought there might be more interviews, but they extended an offer to me within a week after the third one. It was mostly behavioral interviews. Make sure to do your research on the company and the specific team so you can answer well why you want to join and what the team actually does. They gave me a lot of time to ask questions, so be ready with plenty.
- What made you select your college?
- What is your motivation for wanting to work at Commonfund?
- Could you explain the endowment model?
Intern
It was a two-stage interview process. Mostly behavioral questions, but there were also some case study questions mixed in. The interviews felt conversational, but the questions were still tough. They are good about letting you know if you got the job or not.
- The role wasn't what I anticipated, but it can be beneficial for shaping your career if you're interested in Asset Management.
