I applied on-line and discovered I'd be working for a holding company, not the specific facility. The application process felt slow, with long waits to hear back from both the recruiter at the holding company and the hiring manager at the facility. The recruiter's interview went okay, and she kind of set my expectations for the next one. The hiring manager missed our first scheduled phone interview and then had trouble with a video call, so we ended up just doing a phone conversation. She asked a lot about my past experiences and how I'd handle difficult resident situations, family interactions, and co-worker issues. When the offer letter came, it didn't have the specific job details or incentive pay we discussed, which was a red flag. They initially sent the wrong employee handbook, then corrected it, but also revealed that HR was handled by a different subsidiary. This HR subsidiary gave me less than 48 hours for online onboarding, which was a slow, repetitive process. My pay was sent to a debit card instead of direct deposit, causing delays and fees. I had to contact HR to fix the direct deposit, which took another week. They also gave me very little time to get a physical, including a chest x-ray and TB test, and the available clinics were far away and had long wait times. Once I started, I found out full-time meant over 30 hours, but they scheduled exactly 30 by making us clock out for lunch. The time system was strict about minutes. Benefits enrollment also had a very short window, and the costs were too high. The pay was only market rate, which is low for the responsibilities and the difficult work environment.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I had a phone interview with a really positive person, and then about 4 days later, an in-person interview with another recruiter. She asked me to talk about myself, but then cut me off saying she didn't get some resume terms. I explained they were about insurance reimbursement, but she cut me off again to say the job wasn't available anymore, even though it's still listed. She also said she couldn't see my creative clinical experience. I pointed to my 14 years of experience, and she said she didn't know my background profession. I tried to explain how my experience fit the role, but was cut off again and told she'd think about it. I wish I could have talked to someone who actually worked there, understood clinical jobs, and would have taken the time to ask real questions.

I had a phone interview that was less than half an hour. The interviewer spoke really quickly, which I get because I talk fast too when I'm busy. Then, I got an online survey but didn't get any info about it. I reached out to the company elsewhere and they said the interviewer liked our chat and they'd contact me next week. It's been two weeks since then, and I'm hoping the timeline got pushed back due to more important things.

The whole thing took about 5 weeks and I had like 5 interviews with 5 different people. At first, I was wondering why so many interviews, but it really started to make sense. As they were getting to know me, I was also getting to know them better, and it felt like a good fit.
