Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at commercetools.
Senior Software Engineer
First off, there's a screening with HR to see if you're a good fit generally. Then, you'll chat with the team you might be joining about technical stuff. After that, there's a round to make sure you vibe with the company culture. Finally, you'll talk to people from other teams to check out your broader technical skills and how you work across departments.
- Can you explain Scala functional programming concepts?
- Discuss distributed system design.
- Tell me about microservice architecture.
Software Developer
I had an initial call with HR, followed by a technical interview. The interviewer asked me questions about business interaction, which was strange given the job description stated it was a role with no business contact. He then asked about my personal life, which felt inappropriate. The interview ended abruptly after I mentioned this.
- Can you tell me about your experience interacting with business members?
- What is your overall experience?
Software Engineer
The interview process lasted about two weeks and included approximately six rounds. I had the chance to speak with the Engineering Manager for the team I would be joining, as well as some of the team members. Everyone I interacted with was very friendly and supportive.
- Can you describe your background?
- What are your methods for professional development as an engineer?
