First I talked to a recruiter who was super helpful and nice. Then I spoke with the hiring manager and they were also very helpful. After that, I had a technical screen. I'm not even sure what the purpose of this screen was. An engineer called and asked a bunch of questions that I had to answer on the spot. I counted 46 questions, and I got most of them right, missing only two and passing on three. It felt like a Unix/SQL/C++ trivia game where they asked questions really fast. After this, I found out I didn't pass the technical screen, and the recruiter ignored my calls and emails asking for feedback.

Back in April 2011, interviews for candidates from out of town were all done over the phone, no need to visit their office. Now, while initial rounds might still be phone calls, technical interviews could be face-to-face, a change made after realizing some candidates were having friends do their telephonic interviews. Typically, after getting a call for an interview, there are usually two interviews and then a discussion with a Very Senior Person, often the VP of India. The interviews usually cover BMC Remedy, ITSM, IM, PM, CM, SM, CRM, and similar topics. There's also a non-technical discussion, kind of like an HR chat, with a senior person like the VP India, done over the phone. Finally, there's an HR discussion, mostly about salary negotiation. The company seems to have great people and a good work culture, with technically strong individuals. If you perform well, you might get opportunities to go onsite soon. The interviewer was nice and helpful.
