It was an in-person interview, with multiple parts. I spoke with Tucker, a faculty member who liked administration. We discussed the role and how I'd help professors with fine arts stuff.

The worst interview I’ve had in academia. It was a Skype interview with 4 people on the panel, including the dean/director of the department. Right from the start, I felt like this was a private for-profit school more interested in their corporate image than the instructor's credentials. They were brusque and dismissive; one person was even checking his phone while I was answering a question. For example, while discussing my experience, the dean/director asked, 'Who do you know?' I was baffled but realized they wanted 'names' for self-promotion or to invite as guests. My snarky reply was, 'I know many people!' Overall, I think it's a money-making machine run by people who seem more like corporate suits than artists or educators. My advice: avoid at all costs.

  • I know that almost every city in the world has a film festival, but only a few 'count'...

I sent in my application and someone from hiring reached out. Then I had 3 in-person interviews, 2 with the Provost (my potential boss) and 1 with the Provost and 2 deans. The next week, HR called and said the leadership was arguing about the budget and the position was gone. They might call me back in a few months if things get sorted out. The leadership is friendly but really disorganized.
