First, you have to complete a test. If you pass that, you are then in the running to be interviewed. When a job opens up, the relevant department will contact you for an interview. The interviews themselves are pretty straightforward, but it's super tough to get hired by the district. My advice? Take every interview you're offered, even if it's not your dream job. You can move to a different department within the district after being there for nine months.

First, there was a test where I competed against 30 other candidates, which I passed. Then, I had a virtual interview with three people from the CSS Enrollment Department. They explained the role during the interview. I wouldn't recommend CSS because they ghosted me after two interviews. I took time off work for the test and interviews, and never received any communication about the outcome. I emailed them multiple times with no response, which I found very unprofessional. I have over 13 years of experience in the education sector.

After my interview, there wasn't any contact until the orientation dates were shared. I thought I'd be teaching a subject I knew well, but I was shocked to find out at orientation, after signing my contract, that I'd actually be teaching a subject I had very little experience or skill in. It was a scary rush to learn at the same pace as the students! Make sure you get clear on exactly which subject(s) you'll be teaching during the interview.

The first interview was with five people, four of whom I would have directly supported. They seemed like nice people and the interview went okay. I never got a response after that. I sent an email to follow up and was told they weren't proceeding with the position.
