First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Columbia Distributing Company.
IT Support Specialist
It was a standard technical interview, and everyone was nice. They really wanted to understand how I go about troubleshooting, focusing on mobile devices, AD, and Azure. The initial chat with the hiring manager was mainly to see if I'd be a good fit for the team. Then, the final part was a technical interview where I had to answer a variety of questions.
- Can you explain the differences in troubleshooting software, hardware, and network problems?
Director of Financial Reporting
The interview process for this Director of Financial Reporting role seemed disorganized and lacked a clear plan. It dragged on for months with no defined next steps, and I eventually got an automated rejection email four months after my first interview. The CFO, who was in my final interview, seemed disengaged and unsure of the process when I asked about next steps.
- What's your approach to quickly becoming proficient in the role?
Merchandiser
The hiring manager interview for a merchandiser is pretty straightforward. They'll review your previous work history and, like any interview, ensure you grasp the job responsibilities and can connect them to your experience. Stay positive and upbeat, and don't hesitate to express interest in the role. If your past experience aligns with the merchandiser duties, you should have a good chance. A flexible work schedule is a must; expect hours similar to a restaurant, with early and late shifts outside of a typical 9-5.
- Are you available to work early in the week?
Order Selector
The warehouse manager greeted me when I arrived and we talked a bit before the interview. The interview was insightful and professional, Jorge asked me questions about my job history and previous experience. He then gave me a chance to ask questions, which I found to be comforting because they had nothing to hide.
- What was the reason for leaving your previous job?
