COLSA Interview Questions
& Process

I was interviewed by a panel of four people, including the Program Manager, Deputy Program Manager, and two Team Leaders. They asked me a bunch of scenario-based questions to see how I'd deal with different workplace situations. I had to explain how I would handle challenges, solve problems, and make decisions, showing my reasoning and how I'd be a good team member and manage responsibilities. It was a competitive process with 28 candidates, and I was selected.

The interview process was really straightforward. Working as a contractor for the government is simple if you're familiar with the procedures. People with prior military experience have a significant advantage due to their background. It's best to rely on your existing knowledge and do your best to answer the questions. Most of the questions were about military/government processes, which made it easy for me.

A recruiter reached out via email after finding me on clearancejobs.com. I replied expressing my interest and received an invitation to apply through the company's website, which I did the same day. By the next day, I was offered a choice between an in-person or phone interview. Due to personal and work commitments, I went with the phone interview. It was structured as a panel interview, though it felt more like a casual conversation than others I've experienced. The questions asked were mostly standard interview questions and were generally easy to answer with some prior experience or preparation.

The interview itself was fine. Three people asked mostly technical questions in a conference room. It was a fairly comfortable setting. However, after the interview and offer this company was a disaster. The position required an interim clearance, and when it didn't go through, the job offer was rescinded. I asked if I might still have the job if/when my clearance did go through completely, and the only answer I ever got was "I'm not sure". Later, emails went unanswered but the clearance check continued! It's been months later now, I have another job (that I'm very happy with), and still no final word from anyone at COLSA. I don't think it's very nice to leave someone's life hanging like that.
