Had a quick intro chat. They gave a nice intro to the company and I introduced myself. Then I talked about my background. I don't think I was a good fit for the role. I'll try to get another call with them.

The HR part of the process was fine, even good. But the hiring director from the department was really unclear and seemed to want to hire someone they already knew. I left feeling like the role wouldn't be given to the best person, but rather someone who was already connected.

It was a pretty standard interview process. They asked some questions about my previous experience using Excel, Word, and various accounting software. We also discussed how to communicate effectively with a diverse group of students and strategies for managing time when dealing with several projects that have overlapping deadlines. The questions weren't overly difficult or technical.

I applied for the job online. A few weeks after the posting closed, I heard back from the hiring manager. We scheduled an interview. I got to the office a little before the scheduled time, and the director's assistant showed me to their office. The interview started right on time and was supposed to last an hour. The director had a list of questions, and we went through them while they took notes. When we finished, they answered my questions. It was pretty formal, but we did laugh a bit. I was told a decision would be made in a couple of weeks. They mentioned there wouldn't be another round of interviews.
