There were two rounds of interviews. The manager and a senior team member interviewed me in the first round. The second round was with the manager and their manager. The first round interviewers were nice and asked me a lot about my past experience. After the second interview, the sr. manager told me, sounding surprised, that my relevant experience was from 20 years ago. I felt bummed out after that interview since my experience was relevant to the role's systems.

I applied online and heard back from Amanda about two weeks later. She sent an email with interview time options. When I asked how many people were applying, Amanda said HR weeds out about six resumes that fit the criteria. What's really odd is that I interviewed twice for this job. After the first interview, I got an email about six weeks later saying they were changing the job posting and I could reapply. So I did. The second interview was almost the same, with a few questions different. But in the second interview, the supervisor was smiling a lot more, and I definitely didn't get the joke. And here's the kicker. They already had someone for the job. But the way they get around hiring a qualified person legally to hire friends or family who might not be qualified, is to bring them in as a temp. They don't get benefits (except PARA), but the job description is written so that after the nine-month temp period, they get the job. But applicants still get the speech, take time off work, go to the office, only to have no chance of being hired. It's kind of shady, and explains the weird smile.

After applying, I had to answer some written questions about my qualifications. These questions seemed to fit the job well. I only had one interview, but it turned out none of the interviewers were my future manager, which I didn't realize until I started working. The whole process from applying to starting took about four months, which was tough because I was unemployed at the time. [This is more a function of the personal system of the State, as dictated by the Constitution.]

It took quite a while from when I applied until they reached out for an interview. There were two rounds of panel interviews. They offered a few time slots for the interviews and I couldn't pick times outside of those options.
