First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Collier County Public Schools.
Teacher
I was one of ten people interviewed for two teaching positions. The interview was professional and in front of a panel of eight teachers and administrators. They asked typical interview questions. I had student test scores from previous years, which showed student gains and impressed them. Knowing industry buzz words is a must, and researching the school and its philosophies is mandatory if you want a position.
- How would you implement differentiation in your classroom?
- Do you have experience using Kagan strategies in your teaching?
Teacher
I put in my application online and there were two pre-screening questions and a TeacherFit survey. About a week after applying, I got a call to set up an interview, which happened the very next day. It was a panel with the Principal, AP, and Department Head. They asked about six questions related to general education and my specific subject area. I found out their decision the following business day.
- Can you describe a full rehearsal or lesson plan from beginning to end?
- What are your strategies for communicating with students, parents, and fellow faculty members?
English Teacher
I talked with the reading coach and the principal. It was pretty much a chat about education and my past experiences. We talked about why I chose the grade level I did, why I teach English, my views on the current curriculum, and how I'd bring technology into the classroom.
- How do you manage a classroom?
- Can you tell me why you chose this specific grade level?
- What motivated you to become an English teacher?
