We had a first convo, then a teaching demo, then a team interview. If you get to the team interview, you're basically hired. It feels like it takes too long though.

I really enjoyed interviewing with the school staff; they were very welcoming and reinforced the school's mission. However, my experience with HR was disappointing. Since I was interviewing from out of state, they initially offered to cover my travel and lodging. To be mindful of their budget, I offered to drive and stay with a friend, and they agreed to reimburse my gas. When I followed up with HR about the reimbursement, they reacted negatively, questioning my request. It's difficult to consider working for a company that reneges on its promises and then shames someone for needing promised financial assistance, especially an organization that claims to value equity.

The interview process was a bit of a downer. I spent the whole day there. It involved a panel interview, a practice teach, and a debrief of a coaching session. Even though they gave me good feedback and seemed impressed, I got the vibe they weren't really looking to hire an outsider. They seem to want people they can shape. It felt like they were interested, but also a bit ageist and maybe not totally genuine with their compliments. It left a bad impression and felt misleading because they expect you to teach and coach.

It was really friendly. The person called me and I felt super comfortable. She seemed really interested in what I had to say and really cares about her students doing well. She clearly loves her job at CA.
