First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at College Station ISD.
Math Teacher
I interviewed with the principal over the phone/FaceTime. It was a panel interview where I was asked round-robin, situational questions. The questions were very difficult but good! They gave me time to ask my questions, and they were expecting them. Definitely ask about the curriculum, as it's very important. Also, ask about the team members.
- How would you foster a safe classroom where students feel secure enough to take risks?
Counselor/Leadership
They hire in big groups twice a year and applications are always open. After you apply, you get an email saying you need to come to an all-day orientation event. These events usually take up the whole morning, and then you get an envelope telling you if you made it to the face-to-face interview round. You pick an interview time, and then you interview with the directors and current leadership.
- What would you do if a coworker isn't pulling their weight?
After School Counselor
I sat down with the Director or Assistant Director. They asked me questions about childcare and about myself. Mostly, they just wanted me to be myself. They asked a lot of questions about how I feel about different situations. The interview felt like a normal conversation, like two people getting to know each other and talking about what you want to do with the kids. It was great.
- How would you get a group of rowdy kids to pay attention?
Teacher
My interview experience for a teaching job at CSISD was pretty good. It felt pretty chill, and they let me know they wanted to hire me pretty quickly.
- Are you okay with team-based curriculum planning and leading subject matter planning for your team?
