The interview was held in a boardroom with about 8 people from the department. An older woman met me in the lobby and seemed condescending from the start, calling me 'sweety' and telling me not to be nervous, which felt odd given my experience. Despite her demeanor, I felt the interview went well because of the other attendees. I was later emailed that someone else was chosen, making me suspect they already knew their hire. The woman also suggested I apply for a part-time 'junior' position, which again seemed out of sync with my background. I responded by thanking her and declining the part-time offer, then asked for feedback on my interview performance and areas for improvement. She did not reply. Ultimately, I feel I avoided a negative work environment.

The whole process took 5 interviews, all done via Sparkhire. I first did a general Sparkhire intro, then met with faculty, the department chair, the dean and VP, and finally the college President.

I got an invite to do some interview questions on a video app. The questions showed up on the screen and I could record my answers, and then edit and re-record them before sending. The search committee watched the videos. Then I was a finalist and went on campus to interview with them. It was professional, but they hired someone else.
