First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at College of Saint Rose.
Security Guard
I applied online and got an interview offer within a couple weeks. I interviewed with HR and one of the security officers. It was no problem with the timing because I was looking for a part-time job as a student at the college.
- Are you currently holding any certificates for a security guard license?
- Could you tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult situation or person, and what you did?
Coordinator
I applied online and heard back pretty quickly, within 2 days. The HR person on the phone was a bit hard to understand and came across as aggressive. When I went in for the interview, the representative I was supposed to meet wasn't there. They rescheduled me for a week later. My references were contacted, and they mentioned the person who called them was unpleasant. After the interview, I got an offer within 3 days.
- What's your reason for leaving your current position?
- What's the current perception of your job status at your present employer?
- Could you describe your current responsibilities?
Assistant Director Financial Aid
I applied in early September 2017 and heard back from St. Rose about a month later. Despite St. Rose's financial difficulties, I pursued the opportunity. I found the HR communication to be slow and disorganized. For instance, after I confirmed the phone interview and provided my office number, they called my cell instead, resulting in poor call quality. This lack of attention to detail suggests potential larger problems. St. Rose also tends to offer minimal raises. The offered salary for Assistant Director of Financial Aid was $38,000, significantly lower than the industry standard of $44,000-50,000. They were firm on the salary, aiming to maintain pay consistency across staff based on their roles, meaning lower starting salaries and minimal growth potential.
- Could you elaborate on your general interview responses?
- Given my resume, can you discuss my daily duties?
- What are your thoughts on the questions asked, considering they seemed to overlook my resume details?
Assistant
The process was kind of long, it took about 2 months to even hear back about my application and then another 2 months to complete the interview process. The interview stages included a phone interview, an HR interview, and a group interview with the hiring team.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in Saint Rose?
