First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at College Hunks Hauling Junk.
Operations Manager
The interview was pretty straightforward overall. They asked some fundamental questions about my previous work history and my understanding of the responsibilities of this position. The interview took around 20-30 minutes. The interviewers were pleasant.
- What is your tenure in the moving industry?
Manager
The interview process felt a bit messy and unorganized, like they didn't have a set plan. While the team members were nice, the whole experience seemed a bit disjointed. I spoke with four people at different levels, and each one gave a different account of the role and what's expected.
- Could you walk me through your career history?
- Can you discuss any periods where you were not employed?
Administrative Assistant
This group had me on the premises for at least 3 hours for a first interview. I had individual interviews with one owner, then another admin asst, then a tech, and then the other owner. There was a lot of waiting between interviews because the people I was supposed to talk to weren't available right away. They didn't tell me it would take this long beforehand. They didn't even call me back after I wasted half my day. I called them to follow up, but they never returned my call. It was really inconsiderate of my time, and honestly, I'm glad they didn't hire me.
- What's your approach to interacting with coworkers?
Sales Associate
The whole hiring thing took about a week. I put in my application online, and then they called me for a group interview or hiring fair. On the day of, parking was a nightmare, I ended up having to park like 3 blocks away and it was super hot. The interview was supposed to start on time, but there were tons of us in the room and after an hour, we were only halfway through. So I had to bounce. Everyone seemed really nice and the office vibe was chill, but I was bummed that when I scheduled, they didn't tell me it would take so long. Also, the way they talked about scheduling made it seem like they don't care much about people's existing commitments – it's not really a system where you pick your shifts, but the best performers get first dibs on hours, and if you're new or just okay, you're stuck with whatever hours are left, which might not work with your schedule.
- Besides yourself, who would you consider hiring from the interview pool?
