Director
This was a 10-week interview process for a Sr. Director role at College Board. The recruiter was consistently unresponsive or provided incomplete information. The process started with a recruiter screen where I spoke with a different recruiter than the one listed, who couldn't provide much detail about the role. The first round was a 25-minute Zoom call with someone who works closely with the hiring manager, which was late and focused on my experience rather than behavioral questions, with no time for my questions. The hiring manager interview, also a Zoom call, was similarly delayed but the HM did share more about the role. The final round involved a candidate exercise and presentation to a panel. The exercise document was delayed, giving me only 48 hours to prepare a presentation on 15 bullet points, which I spent about 12 hours on. The presentation was rushed due to a late start caused by an incorrect Zoom link sent by the recruiter. This was followed by behavioral questions. Reference checks were requested via Crosschq, but the link was delayed, and after completion, the recruiter was again unresponsive. Despite asking for references, which typically signals an offer, the process was delayed, and I eventually received a rejection email citing another candidate with more experience at scale, which was surprising given the lack of early screening for this factor. The entire process felt disrespectful and inefficient, with little focus on the candidate experience.

Director
Applied in May. Had a screening interview with HR in early June that went well. Three weeks later, interviewed with the hiring manager. Was told I'd hear back within a week, but didn't hear for a month. Emailed HR about it, no response. In late July, was asked to submit work samples within 48 hours, over a month after the interview. Submitted them and was contacted three weeks later saying I was a finalist. Scheduled for three more interviews, two on one day and one the next. All went very well. Told I'd hear by phone within a week. A month later, still nothing, so I emailed HR... no response. A few weeks later, emailed the hiring manager asking if anything else was needed. No response. Finally, two weeks after that, got a form response saying I wasn't hired. The whole process took 4 months.

Director
Interviewing with College Board in Duluth, GA was an amazingly positive experience from start-to-finish. Professional communication, travel arrangements, directions, ease of reimbursement, and appropriate next step information was given within a reasonable time-frame. The initial interview, telephone interview, and in-person panel interview were all highly professional and insightful. The panel interview provided firsthand knowledge into the personable, dynamic character of each person within the hiring department and I left knowing I could easily become part of this team.
