First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Collective Bias.
Account Executive
So after I introduced myself to someone at Collective Bias, they told me to send my resume over. Then I had a conference call with about 4-5 team members. It was basically a quick Q&A to see how I talk on the phone and answer easy questions. If that went well, the next step was a cultural team fit interview about a week or two later. I met with 6 people from different departments in a small conference room. This is probably your first time meeting anyone in person, so be nice and don't get flustered. They're all pretty friendly, or they wouldn't have made it through their own interviews. This interview is mostly to see how you get along with others, if your personality and sense of humor fit with theirs, and to ask you situational questions related to their company values. (Heads up: expect a funny curveball question. Even bigger heads up: have your own curveball question ready to throw back!) Keep your answers and the vibe light and make them laugh. Spend time really researching the company and what's important to them. Even with a little effort, you should be able to figure out their priorities. Show up excited and ready to talk about them!
- One of our values is "Have Integrity." In your own words, what does integrity mean to you, and can you share an example of when it influenced a work-related decision or action?
Client Service Manager
The interview process was really laid-back and conversational, but honestly, it felt like there was no real structure to it at all. I ended up having 4 interviews over a period of 2 months! Since it's a startup, they're still figuring some things out and what they're really looking for in an employee. They're super passionate about their work, so you should definitely do your homework beforehand. They want to see that same level of passion in you! The company culture and the team are amazing.
- How do you think you'd fit into our team's culture?
Coordinator
I had one phone interview. The person interviewing me was professional but seemed uninterested and indifferent. I could barely hear her, maybe she was on speakerphone? It was clear I wasn't her top priority. The questions were standard, but she did mention something about a 'culture test' to see if I would fit in. Seeing the employee pictures, I can't help but wonder about that, especially since I don't see many people of color. Overall, it was an average experience, pretty standard for an interview.
- In what ways are you a leader?
Accountant
The interview experience was really laid-back and actually enjoyable. I got to understand the company better and felt like they were genuinely keen to get to know me. The main purpose of the culture fit interview was to assess if my personality would align with CB's company culture. The conversations were very open and engaging.
- Tell me about your proudest accomplishment.
