It was a simple one-on-one discussion about my qualifications and skills with the supervisor. There was also an in-water test, but it was very routine. It's a really nice pool with a lot of guards working there.

I had a phone interview with Colby College for an HR role. The Dean of DavisConnects’ side had such poor call quality that I could only hear one full question. She acknowledged the bad service but continued anyway, making it super uncomfortable and frustrating.

I applied for an IT position and initially they were hesitant to interview me despite having a degree and experience. I had to apply through a contract position first before they would consider my direct application. I answered all questions well but wasn't hired. It felt like they were looking for a specific type of person, like their current young, white male employees. A few months later, a coworker mentioned he interviewed there too. He was promised the job before moving to the area, but they didn't hire him when they met him in person. He's a black male. I would never reapply because I suspect discrimination.

The hiring process went on for about 5-6 months. I had several one-on-one interviews with staff, faculty, and students over the last four months. I had to reach out to the department manager about 4-5 times for updates on my application. The manager would email me with my name misspelled and sometimes forget to schedule interviews, giving me less than 24 hours notice. In one interview, a colleague made a political comment. The manager requested references but never followed up with them. After interviewing for months, the manager called to inform me I wasn't chosen for the position, stating I lacked sufficient relevant experience. They thanked me for my time. Interestingly, the position advertised hasn't been filled even three months later and has since been changed to a different role entirely.
