Colangelo Synergy Marketing Interview Questions
& Process

The interview process was pretty long, it went for over 4 hours. It was also super unorganized, like HR didn't seem to know who was supposed to interview me next, and 3 out of the 5 interviewers had no idea who they were meeting or for what.

It was more of an informational chat, super casual. First, I had a phone call with the HR Director, and then I met with the Project Management team. Everyone there was really friendly and helpful.

After the initial phone screen, I had to meet with the team I would be working with and some higher-ups. They asked me questions about advertising and marketing, as well as current industry trends. It was generally an easy interview, but the hiring process at Colangelo is quite long. It's common for people to have more than one interview after being told they're hired before they get an official contract.

I initially applied for a Creative Director role that wasn't publicly advertised, going through a local recruiter, which turned out to be a mistake. This recruiter didn't even meet with me or add any value. I didn't get an interview for the position, probably due to a lack of digital experience. Later on, I used my own connections to arrange an informational interview with some senior folks at Colangelo. The people I spoke with were really nice, and there weren't any tricky questions. Colangelo then offered me a freelance gig. But when they found out I was initially presented by that recruiter, everything changed. The recruiter then contacted me, claiming exclusive rights to represent me for any work at Colangelo, forever. Even two years later, she's still claiming that exclusivity, and I'm apparently banned from Colangelo. Definitely learned my lesson.
