First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cogo Labs.
Software Engineer
It was a pretty quick process. First, I had a phone screen where they checked for cultural fit, asked about my goals and motivations, and how I work with others. Then, I got a take-home challenge with detailed specs to build something. The in-person interview focused more on cultural fit and how I'd approach building the project technically, including schema design. They also did reference checks before extending an offer. Recruiting was responsive throughout.

Software Engineer
I applied and then got an email for an interview at the office. When I arrived, they first gave me a tour and introduced me to some staff. Then, I interviewed with two people. They asked me about myself, the company Cogo, and my resume. After that, I answered some simple coding questions and worked through a coding problem on the whiteboard. The interviewers were friendly and made the coding part not too intimidating. Since Cogo is a smaller company, it seemed important to them that I would be a good cultural fit and that they would enjoy working with me.
- Could you whiteboard a game using fundamental data structures?
- What's your understanding of a hash table?
Software Engineer Intern
Didn't have a phone chat, I went straight into an in-person interview with one of the senior developers. It was super chill. The interviewer was really nice and gave me a tour of the whole office, telling me about the company. We talked about algorithms, data structures, big-O, and comparing languages. Then, there was a live-coding part where he watched me code some basic things. It was a bit awkward with him looking over my shoulder, but I guess it's a good way to see if someone can code.
- Basic CS questions were asked.
