& Process

Started with a quick intro call, then a 30 min zoom. After that, a one hour zoom where they asked behavioral questions and a brain teaser. Then there was a big three hour zoom session that was broken into three separate one hour calls, each with two interviewers. Two of those calls included brain teasers, and all of them had behavioral questions. Finally, a 30 min call with an executive.

It was a super long interview process. Started with a 30-minute recruiter phone screen, then a 1-hour in-person interview. After that, there were three separate 1-hour interviews with two analysts each. The analysts seemed pretty new to interviewing and it felt like a waste of time. Nobody asked about my background; they just jumped straight into questions, like they were reading from a script. Some analysts even asked the exact same questions, in the exact same way. Each round was basically identical and could have been done in a single 1-hour interview. They did ask brainteaser-type problems, which were okay, but I was hoping for coding or actual analytical exercises, which was a letdown. Brainteasers don't really show what kind of analyst someone would be. I thought it was more data science, but it's really just basic analytics. It seems like many analysts and managers don't know advanced stats or modeling. If you're a new grad, definitely apply. They seem to hire right out of college and people move up fast. But if you have industry experience, look elsewhere. They don't seem to promote from within much, as I only met VPs who didn't start entry-level. They're not looking for new analytical perspectives, just people to train up from scratch. Everyone was nice though, and there seemed to be good perks.

The interview process involved an initial phone screen, followed by an in-person interview. The onsite portion included a behavioral session with two team members, and a riddle to gauge problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication abilities. Despite a personal off-day during my interview, there was no subsequent contact from the company. My follow-up emails and questions, even after encouragement, went unanswered by both interviewers and the recruiter, leaving a poor impression of the company and its culture. I'm glad I didn't get an offer, as it likely wouldn't have been a good cultural fit. It was also noted that no people of color were visible during the onsite visit. If you interview with Cogo, expect conversation, but don't anticipate follow-up if you don't get the job. On a positive note, the receptionist and the summer intern were very pleasant.
