First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cogent Communications.
Sales Representative
It was a really quick and smooth interview process, I got the offer the very next day. I actually liked the manager quite a bit, but they offered me more money, so I took it. I'd definitely recommend Cogent if you're looking for a good place to kick off your career.
- Can you tell me what you know about Cogent?
Telemarketer
The interview experience was a mixed bag, some parts were good, some not so good, but ultimately an offer was extended. There was some irrelevant information about 'Communication Engineering' not showing up for coding, and mentions of photos. The process involved a recruiter call, a phone screen, a group stage, and an offer.
- Good morning sir ji
- Good evening sir ji
Account Manager
The interview process was pretty straightforward, which is a bit concerning. The first part is a phone screen. It's important to know that Cogent in the UK doesn't have an HR team, so the hiring manager and VP handle everything directly. This initial call is pretty chill, with questions like 'why are you looking?' and 'tell me about yourself.' Next, there's a face-to-face meeting at the office with the hiring manager. This interview isn't too intense either, mainly just to confirm the job's heavy phone-based nature. It's mostly a 'get to know you' session to check for team fit. The final step is a call with the VP. They'll ask about your prospecting approach, your comfort with making calls, and your knowledge of Cogent's services. The entire process usually wraps up in about two weeks, with an offer typically coming 2-5 days later. Oh, and be aware of the notice period: it's one week for every year you've worked there, unlike the industry standard of one month. So, after a year, it's one week's notice, and that's what you get paid for.
- Are you comfortable with making phone calls?
- What's your understanding of Cogent's services?
- Why do you want to work for us?
Customer Service Representative
I went to the office, which is near hebbala kodigehalli. I proceeded to the first floor and waited in the lobby. The HR representative collected my resume and then invited me in for the interview. The HR person started by asking me to talk about myself. After I responded, they inquired about the languages I am familiar with, to which I also provided an answer. Following that, they explained the company's processes and discussed other relevant details, concluding the interview.
- Kindly introduce yourself.
- Could you tell me which languages you speak?
