Lead Instructor
The interview was on Skype and was really friendly. They asked about my skills and what I needed to know. The staff was very nice and easy to get along with. I enjoyed working with them.
- What makes you the best candidate for this role?
Instructor
You will get an email to schedule a Skype call with the director. She's really nice and wants to see your energy level. If she likes you, she'll make an offer on the spot and tell you about your daily tasks and provide all the necessary job info.
- Can you tell me about a time you dealt with a dissatisfied customer?
Junior Instructor
Had a meeting, it was very informal. We discussed my background and my motivation for teaching. The conversation also touched upon the company's future and how instructors can contribute to our growing team.
- Why do you want to teach kids, and do you have prior experience teaching them?
Lead Instructor
The interview was mostly behavioral, focusing on getting to know you via Zoom. You needed to show you know programming and how to work with kids virtually. Basically, if you get basic CS concepts or know a language like python, lua, you're good. Crucially, you gotta know how to manage kids and keep the class fun and engaging online.
- How would you ensure children are engaged and following along during the class?
- What strategies would you employ to keep the kids focused and participating in the virtual class?
- How do you plan to make sure the students are learning and staying attentive during your lessons?
