The interview process was disorganized and outdated. It involved a lot of phone tag, and the recruiter's voicemail was full. Weeks later, I received an on-the-spot phone screen, followed by a PDF of questions, some of which had already been asked or were on my resume. I withdrew my application because of the inefficient hiring process, as I was interviewing with more efficient companies. I shared my experience with them, but they didn't acknowledge it. When I mentioned the full voicemail, the hiring manager just said it wasn't full now. The company doesn't seem to value applicants' or recruiters' time.

I had several teleconference/video conference calls with this company. Most of the interactions were very positive. I've worked with "virtual" companies before so I'm aware of some of the challenges this entails. Some of the interviewers were very well prepared and asked insightful-probing questions while other weren't as prepared and kept their questions more generic. With time being of the essence in today's job market I don't think you want to waste any opportunity to ask the most important questions that you want/need to have answered to help you determine: "Is this someone who can help make us a better company, and do I want to work with them?" If I could make any recommendations it would be that the process be more accelerated and focused. It's clear that the team there is very busy, but staffing a company is a somewhat counter-intuitive process. You can spend more time focusing on doing the most important work that requires your specific talents and attention if you in part, dedicate time to focus on finding and hiring the right candidates to do all the other stuff. Sometimes being too busy is precisely the problem that needs to be addressed.

I went through a phone interview that went pretty well, with some interesting questions. Afterward, the interviewer mentioned a video interview with him and others, but it ended up just being him. I found that a bit odd. A week later, I saw the same job posted on an unofficial board, which felt like a rejection. I suspect they weren't seriously considering me after the initial phone call and were just going through the motions. It felt weird and unprofessional.

The interviewers were very kind and welcoming. It's clear this team is a leader in their educational space, based on their organization. Although I didn't get an offer, I'd love to reapply in the future. The work they're doing for K-12 students is truly amazing!
