A recruiter reached out to me about 8 months ago, but I wasn't qualified. I reapplied in September and spoke with another recruiter, but I didn't get past the initial recruiter screen. This was my first time failing a recruiter screen, especially since I've been interviewing a lot lately.

So I had this initial phone screen, super quick, like 15 minutes. Then they set me up for an interview with the PM I'd be reporting to. This interview got rescheduled a couple of times, like 2 or 3. The recruiters were really nice though, very warm during our chats. When we finally had the interview in April, the PM mentioned that the shift to remote hiring was making things a bit tricky. She seemed kinda distracted, kept looking at another screen, though she wasn't typing. After that, I got a rejection email via Greenhouse. I was pretty bummed, especially since the recruiters had been so friendly. I asked for some specific feedback, but they said they couldn't provide it. I get that they're not obligated to, though.

The interview process started with a phone screener, then a scenario-based case study, and concluded with one-on-one interviews with several team members. Although they were more organized this time compared to a previous application where scheduling was mishandled, there were still some minor issues. The interviews primarily centered on scenarios involving user and team member interactions, along with general product management responsibilities. Some questions from interviewers were a bit too high-level or unclear, requiring follow-up questions to understand their expectations. In the end, another strong candidate was selected over me.
