Software Engineer
Overall, Coda Payments left me questioning their culture and hiring. They might have interesting jobs, but the lack of transparency, unprepared interviewers, and exclusionary process make it hard to recommend. Candidates should research well before talking to them. The salary ranges were low compared to the market. There was a lack of transparency about the role and expectations. Interviewers seemed unprepared and disengaged. It was unusual that the process only involved engineering managers, potentially showing a lack of trust between managers and ICs, raising concerns about gatekeeping. The managers were defensive and narrowly focused on their internal view, making it hard to discuss business problems broadly. They seemed disinterested in learning about candidates and dismissive. They kept asserting the company's merits instead of talking. My interactions and external reviews suggest potential internal issues, management problems, politics, and lack of inclusivity. Red flags: seemed like they were gathering market data via compensation questions, and the recruitment team seemed to prioritize image over candidate experience. Avoid this company, better jobs exist.

Publisher Support
This was a disappointing interview process. The interviewers were unprofessional and the schedule kept changing, so I had to take time off repeatedly. There were three rounds: first, HR to get basic company info; second, a Senior to discuss job details and technical skills; third, the Account Manager, Director, and Team Lead to go over past work. They say they have a flexible culture, but the Director said we'd need to work or respond to client WeChat messages after hours or on holidays, which doesn't match their stated values. Benefits are 20 days off, salary around $4.5K, no 13th bonus, but a 16% annual bonus.

- How would you manage when you receive multiple questions simultaneously?
- What is your assessment of the cause if customers repeatedly face the same issue?
Technical Lead
First, a recruiter reached out. Then, I received a take-home assignment, which was a coding exercise in Java. I had to submit it via GitHub within 7 days. After that, there was an interview split into two parts. The first part involved discussing my submitted solution and answering follow-up questions. The second part focused on technical questions, primarily related to Java, including topics like memory management, concurrency, and data structures such as HashMap and Set. Finally, I received an offer.

Hi, Just wanted to warn candidates about a recent trend in HR, an unethical method of companies like Recharge.com to attract candidates and ask assessments that they will use as ready-to use, actionable solutions. Make sure to protect your presentation and delete it as soon as you finish presenting it. My advice is NOT to send any presentation at all but instead talk about your findings in real time during the interview. Remember, the assessment is more about HOW you talk about SEO than your findings themselves. The assessment was consisting of more than what is necessary in a typical assessment. Recharge.com started becoming nervous when the presentation was not sent in advance. Recharge sent a few emails as reminder. Recharge.com said that they wanted to have the time to make copies for the team. The interview was supposed to include Hiring manager who did not join but instead an intern, without any explanation. No feedback was given after the assessment.
